My views on other students work on opening sequences

  Dare to Thrill      The video had lost of handheld camera movements, and lots of close up images to allow the audience to notice the characters actions such as turning on the car and raising/lowering the volume of the music. There is an establishing shot of the parking garage to allow the audience to have an idea where these teens are located and why they are there.  Lots of mid level shots are used to give the audience the illusion of being the same height as the teens and the illusion of being one of the members of the friend group. The dark atmosphere allows a sudden mood change to appear because in the beginning the emotion that the audience can feel is happiness and cheerfulness, but once the characters hear the noise in the trunk the dark lighting allows the fearful and mysterious atmosphere to smoothly and strongly cover up the previous emotion that was being used. What specific technical elements of the film opening did you like? *      I like the low key lighting of the entire video because it sets up the mysterious and sort of fearful tone of this piano player getting attacked by a threat in his car. Another thing that I liked is the camera angles for the piano. This included a close up shot of the strings, this gives a feeling of musicality and wonder as the main person we focus on is playing the instrument. The next angles that I like is a upwards tilt towards the characters face, because it show us how this person dresses as he plays the piano, and it shows how professional he is with his hobby. The next shot that I liked is the pan from our character to the mysterious and dangerous threat that is looming In the back of the car. This scene would then transition into a drone-shot of the car as it slowly pulls back the shot, this is done so that the audience could have another feeling of mystery because we are left on a cliff ha...

Over the course of the class, we were discussing and debating on whether we're going to do a comedy or a drama short film. We did end up going for the drama route because we all have great ideas on what to do for our drama short film.
