Sample Exam question- Section B

The blockbuster phenomena of Oppenheimer had multiple Cross media including a social media crossover with the movie Barbie, many versions of the film's poster and an movie interview with most of the famous actors/ celebrities of the hit film. This film was distributed by Universal Pictures and was created to remember the man that created the atomic bomb and what his consequences in his life were like during the creation of the bomb. The movie was a documentary style movie and was promoted as that specific genre of film. Not that many people watch documentary style movies but because of the way they marketed the film, it grabbed the attention of many consumers. The use of unique billboards, incredible posters, and special merchandise is what drove the popularity of the film to shoot for the sky.

One method of marketing was the fan social media collaboration of Oppenheimer and Barbie is what mostly created these two movies together to be a huge hit in the film industry of 2023. This social media promotion occured on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook just to name a few and with millions of people sharing and liking the posts therefore influencing the positive effects of the movie. The contrast of dark and truthful Oppenheimer and the funny, bright, cute feeling of Barbie created a humorous reaction across the internet that promoted the movies even further with the use of humor and sharing with other people about the funny trend of Barbenheimer. In the movie theaters depending on the select movie theater that a consumer went to, there would be special popcorn buckets that would promote the film Oppenheimer and some of these buckets would be in the shape of the famous atomic bomb. On social media, the target audience who brought these atomic bomb popcorn buckets would paint them pink and slap a Barbie name on the item as a way to promote even further the crossover of Barbenheimer.

Another method of promoting Oppenheimer was through the numerous amounts of live TV and YouTube videos of interviewing the cast members (such as Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr.) about their recent film that is guaranteed to be a successful hit. These interviews are done multiple times across different media channels and social media channels in order to reach out to multiple target audiences that are located on different platforms whether it's Snapchat, instagram, or facebook. The most popular way to execute this social media synergy is to have the starring cast show up for either a new's interview or most popular a talk show. Talk shows such as "The tonight show Starring Jimmy Fallon" is a prime example on how to spread the release of a future movie to target audiences. This is due to these talk shows having funny and humorous moments along with having the stars of a movie participate in hilarious short games, this simple formula encourages the audience to consume and have the influence to watch a specific movie that is being promoted.

The final result of all of these social media synergies is a movie that will draw in lots of audiences that would love to watch movies such as Oppenheimer. Thought the promotion of the famous fan creation of Barbenheiemer and the all popular talk shows starring the cast of Oppenheimer, not only can one movie have a positive affect on the film industry through social media synergy, but all movies can have the same positive effects when done right. The right amount of budget and the right amount of planning for promoting a movie can go a long way into making a movie successful, for example the promotion for the recent Mufasa film was weak due to not having enough money for marketing and correct planning. The effects of a rush marketing lead to target audiences hating the movie for somewhat changing the story of how the original "Lion King" was told to the demographic who has grown up and wanted to show their children the film their parents loved so dearly. As a result, correct marketing and planning, along with really well and great social media synergy can be very important to how well a film does to earn its rightful money's worth.
